Easy Broiled Tilapia

Dilled TilapiaMuch like the Easy Broiled Whiting, making Broiled Tilapia uses a similar method and has a similar result. You can do this with the same recipe as the whiting, but just for variety’s sake, here’s a different, and more delicate flavor.

Easy Broiled Tilapia

Tilapia fillets (Can be found in your seafood freezer section, or you can buy fresh. You can also choose any type of fish as long as it’s in thin fillets.)
I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray
Lemon juice (I like the Minute Maid lemon juice you find in the freezer section)
Dill weed (dried is fine)
Pam or other cooking spray.

  • Pre-heat oven to the Broil setting.
  • Thaw fish if necessary. Pat dry.
  • Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Spray foil on cookie sheet with Pam.
  • Lay fish on foil…if it’s skin-on, lay it skin side up. (If it has skin on it, then broil it for 3 minutes first, remove the skin, then coat as follows.)
  • Spray with ICBINB Spray. (5 squirts = 1 serving, although I have a hard time getting 5 squirts to spray in the right spots)
  • Drip on a few drops of lemon juice…enough to taste it in every bite, but don’t drown it.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of dill over the fish.
  • Broil for 3 minutes.
  • Flip fish, coat the other side with ICBINB Spray, lemon juice, and dill. Broil for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Flip fish again, broil for another 2 minutes or so until the fish is flaky and a little crisp around the thinner edges.

Aili’s notes:
I found family-sized bags of tilapia at Kroger for about $10-15 for this HUGE bag. I’m not even sure how many fillets are in there (they’re small, and about 4 oz. each, which is a perfect single-serving size), but it’s keeping me stocked for quite a while!

I usually have this with a spinach salad. Together, they make a nice, light meal. I love it for lunch.

My favorite parts are the crispy edges. Yum!

I tried taking a picture of this when I made it for lunch today, but it was SO flaky that it broke apart before it got to my plate! I’ll try again tomorrow! ETA: Picture now up! Not the best pic, but I’m not one of those people who photographs food professionally…especially not with my phone’s camera! XD
